From The Office of Tracey Lavallias
We are pleased to announce that Northern Home for Children is now Northern Children's Services. Why the name change? Over the years, our organization has evolved greatly from the refuge and respite for children that it was founded as in 1853 to the comprehensive social service agency it is today, providing a continuum of services to more than 3,000 children annually. Our name change to Northern Children s Services reflects our core mission and response to the emerging needs of the children we serve and allows us to more effectively work throughout the region.
Although our name and logo have changed, our commitment to keeping children safe, strengthening families, and providing high quality services in a compassionate, professional and cost effective environment of excellence remains the same.
Please note that that this is an official name change to "Northern Children s Services" and not a "fictitious business name" or "doing business as." The necessary paperwork has been filed with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania evidencing this change. Also, our IRS Tax Identification number will remain the same.
As we embark on this transition, our goal is to do much more than simply change a name and logo. We aim to communicate and demonstrate, strongly, consistently and compellingly, our well-established role as a leading social service provider that has the right people, practices and policies in place to ensure that all children-whoever they are and wherever they live-have an opportunity to change the odds in their favor and achieve better outcomes.
As always, we thank you for your support in helping us move forward as Northern Children's Services.

President and CEO
Northern Children’s Services supports the healthy development of children, while stabilizing their families to build stronger communities.
Theory of Change
We help children and their families do better today, so that we all do better tomorrow. Everything we do at Northern Children s Services is designed to ensure a more promising future for children and is driven by our belief that every child possesses inherent value, potential, and the ability to transform him or herself - regardless of his or her background or life circumstances. If we invest in that potential through child welfare and behavioral health services that emphasize safety, health, permanency, self-sufficiency and positive relationships, then the children will lead happier, healthier, and more productive lives and contribute to society in meaningful ways.
